Nuyaka Creek Winery, Great for Sunday Funday!

My daughter and I planned this trip to the winery. It was about an hour drive, but so worth it. This is a great place to go with a significant other, girls day out or mother-daughter time.

We were greeted by sweet little furry friends (doggies) and the owners of the winery, Pete and Dianne Jones.  They are the quaint and passionate about wine making. The price of the wine tasting includes a small plate of cheeses and crackers...great in cleansing our palates between wines.

 The cellar

Located in Bristow, OK, it's about an hour away from Tulsa but worth the drive.  Mr. Jones said he started making wine when he was about 12 years old, so without giving his age away, about 46 years of wine making!  The Nuyaka Creek Winery opened for business around the year 2000. We not only sampled the wines we wanted, but Pete took his time to answer our questions and give us the tour.  His wines are creative and as they are tasty. I'm planning a trip back with both daughters AND all three of my sisters...look out Bristow!

The gift shop, located in the wine tasting area.

Pete has an amazing palate and great taste in wine flavors.  None of his wines were too sweet, even the fruit flavored ones. He had an apple wine, pear wine, peach wine...they were light, crisp and just finished clean and smooth. All of his wines did.  He had the classic reds and whites as well. One of our favorites was a strong liquor-like wine that is high in alcohol content...it was the buttered pecan flavor...would be so great in making a bread pudding. Just delicious!!

This is the white merlot...it has an ever so slight bubbly-ness that was crisp and clean.

The owner, Pete Jones and wine lover Tiffany Giles (aka my oldest baby girl)

If you find yourself having a great day, with great weather, that is the ideal time to take a wine tasting trip. You'll love this folks...AND their wine!
